How will Eiffage accommodate my environmental protection agenda?

  • The construction sector is a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. Industry companies and their employees have a key role to play.

For more than 10 years, we’ve been working closely with our customers, our suppliers and our partners on this for over ten years now and are aware of the hurdles we need to overcome to achieve sustainable growth. We are fully committed to cutting our carbon footprint and protecting the natural world in our contracting and concessions businesses.

Find out more about our ecological and energy transition strategy

  • Our low-carbon strategy is based on two main objectives:

    • reducing internal emissions across all Group business lines
    • developing new low-carbon products and services.

The Science Based Targets (SBT) initiative validated our short-term targets, considering them to meet the levels required to achieve the objectives for the Paris Agreement and the 1.5°C trajectory.

Each of our business lines is committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions – both in and outside France – so as to cut the Group’s emissions by:

    • 46% across its internal scope by 2030 compared with 2019, the year of reference
    • 30% across its low-carbon products for customers upstream and downstream (direct emissions) by 2030 compared with 2019, the year of reference.
  • Eiffage has pursued a bold, biodiversity-friendly policy for close to 15 years. Our commitment to the Companies for Nature programme gained the recognition of the French Office for Biodiversity (OFB) back in 2020.

Our three-year action plan (2023–2025) maps out our biodiversity strategy across all our business lines. Targets have been set for all the businesses according to how much strain they place on erosion factors and biodiversity. The 186 measures identified aim to curb the specific impact of each business line and set forth commitments aligned with their operational priorities.

  • Working at Eiffage is a great opportunity to make a tangible contribution to the ecological and energy transition. In line with the Group’s strategy, all our employees are given training in how to address environmental issues via our wide range of internal training courses:

    • The Eiffage Climate School initiative, which focuses on low-carbon activities, the circular economy and biodiversity conservation
    • Projects and the environment
    • Environmental tours arranged within the Group’s regional units
    • The Eiffage University runs internally designed training courses
  • From 2021 onwards, Eiffage began introducing European Taxonomy indicators to enhance monitoring of the ecological transition of our business model. This unique reference framework provides a means of classifying economic actors’ contribution to the ecological transition. It gives investors crucial guidance informing their decisions about which activities to support and which activities carry a risk of impairment given climate issues.
